Holiday Light Show Production
Holiday Light Show Production
Building a synchronized holiday light show is one of the most rewarding LED projects. Here’s how to plan and execute one.

System Components
| Component | Budget | Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Sequencing software | xLights (free) | xLights (free) |
| Controller | QuinLED Dig-Quad | Falcon F16V5 |
| Output | ~1,000-4,000 pixels | ~8,000-16,000+ pixels |
| Audio | Bluetooth speaker | FM transmitter |
| Scheduling | WLED timespan | Falcon Player (FPP) |
Workflow
- Design the layout — Map pixel locations in a 3D model (xLights)
- Import audio — Song selection, beat detection
- Sequence effects — Colors, morphs, twinkles, text
- Export / render — Generate the show files
- Upload to player — FPP or SD card
- Schedule — Daily on/off times
- Play!
FM Transmitter Setup
For drive-in / walk-by shows, broadcast audio on a low-power FM frequency:
- Transmitter: ~€20-50 (0.1W-1W)
- Frequency: 87.9-93.3 MHz (avoid local stations)
- Antenna: 1/4 wave dipole for best range
- Range: 100m-500m (legal limits vary by country)
